When class was over, Katie and I walked up and down the halls doing the cool turn in synchrony.

recollection of anything anyone said since it was another round of the most exceedingly boring prattle about dogs and hobbies, blah, blah, blah, blah. I just drowned out the noise with the good food, for once not caring if it all accumulated as fat.

CHAPTER 8

TEA, ANYONE?

That afternoon Davenport discussed the importance of writing Thank You notes.

“With the invention of email,” she lamented, “Thank You notes have become a lost art.”

She went on to say that this was no excuse not to send one when the occasion warranted, as when someone sent you a gift, or did something nice for you, or remembered you in a kind way.

Davenport insisted that Thank You notes must meet the five following criteria:

Be sent within three to five days of receiving the thing you’re thankful for.

Look neat and be grammatically correct.

Reference specifically what you are thankful for.

Mention how you are using the gift.

Include a personal comment about yourself.
